The arrival of the coronavirus led to a devastating blow to the whole world. Among those affected was a DJ living in Europe, Jeffrey Pena-aka DJ Base Pay. He was known for playing on the biggest stages performing with artists like Nicky Jam, Justin Quiles, and Grupo Extra all the way to Hip Hop artists like Rick Ross and Ace Hood. The closure of clubs, festivals, outdoor parties, and possible venues where a DJ might perform was forced to close down. As a result, his career like many others, had no idea what the future would hold. Of course, it was a massive blow to the Dominican DJ that his years of hard work and struggle to build a name for himself had come crumbling down instantly.
What remains so inspiring about this NY DJ is that even though his tireless efforts to climb the ladder of success had come crashing down, he was the least bit unambitious. Instead, the whole journey of starting his career from scratch excited him. DJ Base Pay had decided that he would pack his bags in Europe and start afresh in a new country. He was excited to perform in front of a new crowd and manifested unlocking new opportunities for himself in the United States. Although the transition between the two countries was a challenge for him, it did not fail to excite him.
After he arrived in the States, he partnered with Videographer Sam Vargas Images. This was followed by making unforgettable club recaps & content that immediately began making noise across the United States. In less than a year, DJ Base Pay has performed at the top venues from the east to the west coast. His rapid success was due to his belief in himself, a thirst for a legacy, a solid social network, and a commercial marketing plan. With these ingredients, DJ Base Pay knew that success was definite.
What is even more fantastic about the enthusiastic DJ is that he works independently, without the support of an agency, a DJ crew, or a label. While many artists may find it hard to get on their feet without any backup, DJ Base Pay did not worry about these necessities. Even without sufficient support, DJ Base Pay has bagged credit-worthy bookings across America.
Producing music has garnered the interest of the Queens native DJ, and he is looking forward to trying his fair share at it. Other than that, he appears to be engrossed in working with artists from different genres ranging from Latin to House Music & even Afro beats. His aims include playing on the most prominent stages of the US and having his own label one day. Recently DJ Base Pay has been on a DJ’ing adventure to perform in all 50 states of the USA and acquire a world record to his name. Up till now, he has covered 15 states and does not seem to slow down anytime soon.
