While the talk of COVID-19 is still there, we can’t deny that we’re healing from it slowly. In another topic, the music industry does not stop working and continues to produce inspiring music.
A lot of new music has been released in the first two months of 2022, signaling the trend in accompanying music videos to follow the release of debut singles. With engaging visuals and storylines, 2022 is a year for artists’ creativity to continue to be fully displayed and prove the importance of their vision.
If you’re looking for inspiring music & video of the year, the following music & videos are coming from your favorite artists. Take a look!
1. “The Joker and The Queen” – Ed Sheeran ft. Taylor Swift
This is not the first time they’ve collaborated. In 2012 they created the magic called “Everything Has Changed.” Nine years later, Sheeran and Swift surprised fans everywhere with this new duet, humming each other again about the ways love allows one to open up to the one they love even though it’s a dangerous and scary prospect.
The music video for “The Joker and The Queen” emphasizes this theme, showing the evolution of a relationship, ironically the exact same relationship from their previous music video, and how the bond between two people can withstand even the toughest of challenges.
2. “she’s all i wanna be” – Tate McRae
Our next music & video comes from Tate McRae. This tribute to Chorus Line shows McRae as a dancer struggling to fit in the crowd at an audition, comparing herself to the other girls around her. In a metallic navy-blue tracksuit paired with fishnet stockings and leg warmers, McRae looks like she’s from the 1980s. With winged eye-liner and high ponytail, the singer wants to be the girl everyone admires and wants, giving listeners an insight into her insecurities.
3. “Coconuts” – Kim Petras
The viral Tik Tok song by Petras has finally got the music video listeners have been waiting for. This music & video came with the beautiful nuance and cool light choreography that the singer promised to reveal. The video itself shows Petras in an orange bodice and bright blue metallic miniskirt and a ’70s-inspired green floral sail, and of course, coconut. The dancers complete the whole vibe of the video, making viewers want to shake their heads the whole time as she sings about the hot summer days and temperatures.
4. “King” – Florence + The Machine
After releasing High as Hope in 2018, Florence + The Machine gave their fans the lead single “King” that seems to be the precursor to the upcoming album. The music video was recently released on February 23 and depicts Florence Welch as a healing goddess who is aware of her own mistakes and failed relationships in the past. With its exquisite use of color, symbolism, and choreography, this music & video is by far one of the most captivating videos to view this time of year.
5. “Oh My God” – Adele
This list of music & video can’t be completed without mentioning Adele and her uniqueness. Yep! She had to give us black and white classic music video for “Oh My God.” This music & video represents a striking track of her recent album 30.
In this music video, Adele looks similar to her hit video “Send My Love (To Your New Lover)” as she is seen in a ballgown and a similar pin-up hairstyle. This is perhaps Adele’s most relaxed and carefree as she sways to the beat and stares at her reflection with a smile on her face.
