Sykes is a 12-year veteran in the Independent Professional Wrestling world and has achieved many accolades in all of those years. Before Sykes became the wrestling Prince he is today, his love of professional wrestling started at the young age of 6 in Baltimore, MD. While watching the commercials above the vintage TV guide channel scroll on, a young Sykes caught a glimpse of what he would set his sights on for the foreseeable future…..Professional Wrestling.
Sykes watched as the pyrotechnics blared in the commercial as the words “WCW Monday Nitro” shined across the screen…The young Tjay saw Hollywood Hogan with the legendary “Big Gold Belt” appear on screen, screaming “This is where the power lies”…..The life of the young Prince was forever changed.
Flash forward years later, Sykes was on a path that he would never slow down on. From being first trained by Bern Blankenship to “Wildman” Robbie Paige and currently being mentored by current National Wrestling Alliance star “Da Pope” Elijah Burke…..Tjay Sykes over his 12-year span in pro wrestling has racked up many achievements and accolades from championships to awards, special honors, working with top-notch and high-level talent to performing multiple times abroad.
Through all of those accolades and achievements, Tjay Sykes now finds himself once again on top of another company as its Heavyweight Champion… That company is Pro Wrestling eXpress (PWX). As the leader of the notorious stable D.B.D (Dangerous By Design) with fellow members Nikki, Mason Walls, and Tony Macko…The group has run roughshod over PWX since debuting in 2021. And on April 9th, 2022, The Red Prince captured the coveted PWX championship after cashing in his newly won Burgh Brawl contract on then Champion O’Reilly Chambers.
Love him or hate him, Tjay Sykes looks to help grow, expand and change the state of PWX as the Heavyweight Champion. On May 7th, during a championship celebration for the Prince…Sykes, after mentioning some great men who have held the PWX Championship…From Brian Anthony, T. Rantula, Sean “Shocker” Evans, ECW Original “The Franchise” Shane Douglas, Samu Anoai, Sterling James Keenan to Joshua Kavod…Sykes declared that “Anybody can make history, but only the great ones can write it” and with that Sykes continued to declare openly that on July 2nd after 27 years of history of PWX, he would be defending the championship at WIN Wrestling in Northampton, England immediately making the Pittsburgh-based championship a “WORLDS CHAMPIONSHIP”. A major step in the new chapter of Pro Wrestling eXpress that is being written with Tjay Sykes at the helm.
The “Red Prince” Tjay Sykes continues his ascension in the Independent Wrestling world by leaps and bounds. Sykes is an asset anywhere and everywhere he lands. And with more amazing things happening soon for the Prince, the sky’s the limit with what he can accomplish next. Whatever is in store next for Tjay Sykes, one thing is for sure…..Heads will roll.
