Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?
Hi VENTS, thank you for having us – We are doing very well and are enjoying getting back into live gigs at last. The crowd reaction has honestly been a pleasant surprise especially after being away for so long!
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Carnivore Incarnate“?
“Carnivore Incarnate” is basically us reintroducing ourselves to the world – It’s fast, it’s heavy & the lyrics are completely paranoid & deranged which I think reflects today’s society quite nicely! Leanne Evans (Metal Temple) called it “…quite the tasty slab of meat” which I quite liked haha
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
Not one event per se, but more of just a complete explosion of conspiracy theories and government fuckery from Ceri Roberts’s brain. There’s a bit of David Icke, a touch of Alex Jones, Christopher Hitchens and a healthy dose of Orwell in there. The YouTube algorithm will love it basically.
Any plans to release any sort of video for the track?
The video will be released on the 27th of May alongside the single. Given its graphic and generally conspiracy laden content… it will likely be removed by the 28th! It’s definitely an 18+ I’ll put it that way.
How was the recording and writing process?
This one was technically one of the ‘old’ Madicide tracks that we didn’t get to record before our hiatus back in 2015. We did, however, significantly re-work the track to suit the slightly more ‘streamlined’ and aggressive sound that came along with the recent lineup change.
With Tim (drummer since 2021) joining us and obviously bringing along his own unique style – we wanted to give him the opportunity to really make his mark on the song. He upped the tempo and added a ton of extra groove to complement Josh’s funky bass lines…
Ceri then upped the aggression in the vocals and rhythm and Ian completely rewrote his lead parts, ending up with an absolute snarling beast of a solo that really takes the intensity of the track to a whole different level.
We recorded the single with the guys over at the legendary Unit 13 Studios and then headed over to our old friend Phil Humphreys (Little Emperor Studio) for mixing and mastering, ; He did a great job with “Death March” in 2014 and it was a pleasure getting to work with him once again – he’s a top bloke and a bloody brilliant producer/engineer!
What role does South Wales play in your music?
Ah, Wales – The buses are late, the weather is shit and drug crazed zombies stalk the streets every night (in Neath anyway), what’s not to like? It’s very metal.
Shout out to Tony Grunt of The Duke for giving us some of our earliest gigs back in 2010 and for running our home away from home for so many years. That place is a black diamond in the rotting bin bag that is Neath.
How has Pantera and Megadeth influenced your writing?
The heroin maybe??! I don’t know. We do love them though.
Does the new single mean that we can expect new material – how’s that coming along?
Yes it does. Very well. Stay Tuned.
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
“The Ballad of the Band that isn’t Particularly Good at Coming up with Album Titles on the Fly” Part III – 2074
What is happening next in Madicide’s world?
We are marking the release of “Carnivore Incarnate” (on May 27th) by playing at The Bunkhouse in Swansea the next evening (May 28th).
Kill by Mouth and Verletzen are kicking things off so it’s going to be carnage – the last time I saw Verletzen live I left covered in blood and pieces of burnt bible so it’s guaranteed to be entertaining at the very least!
Thanks again for having us!
