Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Loving Me”?
Yes of course. Have you ever fell so much in love with a person who become everything to you – ‘the air that you breath’?
Well that’s basically what happened to me. It’s a song I wrote to expel some of my pain.
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
“Loving Me” is inspired by a relationship I’ve just been through myself, with a man who conquered my heart by making grand romantic gestures and promises he ended up breaking.
He started off by claiming us to be “soul mates”, saying I love you, that he’d love me for the rest of his life and never leave me, to someone who decided to want his cake and eat it, turning me into someone to have but not cherish – and it broke me.
Was it easy for you to open up and become this vulnerable?
Because my emotions are so raw, powerful and strong, it’s very easy for me to open up and express them through my artistry and passions.
I have incredible emotional access due to the intensity and energy of my emotions.
They can be a blessing and a curse lol.
But that is why I love dancing, singing, songwriting, music and acting so much!
They allow me to express myself, enter different dimensions and release some of my emotions.
At the end of day I find them all extraordinary tools of expressions, visions and communication, they make people see and feel beyond.
And I thought to myself – if anybody else in the world is going through the same, I wouldn’t want them to feel alone, so here I am, giving you “Loving Me”.
It’s a song that tells a story but also acts as a motivation and a reminder for my fans that there is light at the end of tunnel.
Any plans to release any sort of video for the track?
“Loving Me”‘s Music Video has been released with the track!
It’s on my YouTube page Ticky Official along with the other releases I’ve done so far.
A mini inside scoop for your readers about the music video – the blue tie and card you see in the music video are actually his. The card was the Valentine’s card I gave him which he never brought home.
How was the recording and writing process?
I started composing “Loving Me” in my bedroom with my sole keyboard and voice whilst I was in the midst of great pain due to a high level of neglect and broken promises.
I was basically seeing the deceit, but I was still hoping the love he had promised me was true.
When I first started composing “Loving Me” I was never intending on releasing it, I was using it as catharsis, a way to rationalise my feelings, but it didn’t take me long to change my mind.
I think already by the second verse I decided – “no, I want the world to hear this, let’s get it done properly and release it.”
That’s why the song leaves a lot of things unsaid and doesn’t reveal any specific details.
The recording process was actually split into two sessions with my amazing sound engineer Laurie Coupar. The first session I recorded the piano melody and the body of the song, in order to take away and sit with my go to producer O.G.M to construct the track. Whereas the second session, I recorded the second and last chorus on the final track.
When creating the track, my producer was literally banging his head for the absurd BPM I had constructed for my composition. He said to me “This is never been done, not to this extent anyway.” The BPM basically continuously changes throughout the track, because I had based the timing on how I would naturally sing it. So “Loving Me” not only has an incredible backstory to it, but it also brings real innovation to the music industry, giving a recorded sound a ‘live’ feeling.
Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?
Yes! I am currently working on two new tracks!
They are both house/dance vibe tracks so something people will hopefully want to dance to!
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
No tentative release dates yet, nor titles as I always decide on the titles after I finish writing the whole song. But more updates will deffo follow soon!
What else is happening next in Ticky’s world?
Ticky’s world is never stopping.
Not going to deny the fact I’m still in the midst of a heartache at the moment, so in order to contribute to a friend’s charity, and myself, I’ve planned to go for a mountain hike in Marocco at the end of this month! To remind myself of my value and focus in life.
Music wise aside from the tracks, I’ll be making music videos to them too, hoping to start making more live appearances around London.
Whereas, in terms of news- I’m hoping and waiting to hear back if I’ll be performing for Pride next year!
