Kyle Seitz kicked off his journey in music when he was still a teenager and two decades later, he’s still at it, chasing his dream. When it comes to his music, he enjoys creating a unique sound that encompasses many different influences and it always leaves his fans happy and wanting more.
Today, Kyle is working on a new album and other significant steps for his career so we took the time to catch up with him and learn more. In our conversation, we learned more about his music, how he got here, and where he is going in the future.
Let’s dive in.
As we mentioned at the start, Kyle has been doing this for a long time. On his start and journey, here is what he had to say.
“I played my first gig at a restaurant where I was a busboy when I was 15 years old. That’s when my “professional” life as a musician began. Since then (20 years ago), I have been a working musician at lounges, clubs, hotels, and dive bars while also working every type of odd job known to man. Currently, I’m working at a singer/songwriter venue while splitting time working on music. I moved to Nashville from Atlanta 4 years ago to get out of complacency as a bartender and to follow my wife as she was finishing school at Vanderbilt.”
Being a musician is a labor of love and passion. Kyle’s drive for it and his supporting cast have helped him get to this point. When we asked about his biggest influences, he cited a lot of the people that support him.
“My biggest influence is my wife, followed by my bandmates and writing team. My producers and writers, Jesse Warren, and Trey Lander are the catalysts that have guided me in creating my best work, along with my drummer Mark Raudabaugh’s ability to give the unique sound that comes with my songs. A lot of artists influence my drive to be successful in music and continue to create no matter what level of success I find myself at. A lot of friends in the business have guided me and pushed me to really try and put myself out there when at times I was on the verge of giving up.”
As for his musical influences, he pointed to the following.
“Some of my musical influences and loves are Jeff Buckley, Norah Jones, Dawes, Ryan Adams, Radiohead, Bon Iver, Ray Lamontagne, Jackson Browne, and Bonnie Raitt to name a few.”
That’s a strong and diverse list. Between these artists and his personal life influences, Kyle brings a lot of variety to his craft. He credits that background on making his sound unique.
“My sound is unique because of the artists that have influenced me. I would say because I listen to so many different styles of music. For a long time, people have had trouble defining my sound, and I find that to be a good thing.”
The bravery to create a sound all his own is evident in his music. The uniqueness is on full display in a track like ‘When We Were Young’.
While that track is his most popular one on Spotify and one we instantly loved, we wanted to know what his favorite song that he’d written was.
“I don’t really have a favorite song, I guess I haven’t written it yet.”
If that means the best is yet to come, then music fans should be excited. With that in mind, we asked him what was next for him.
“I am working on the second album currently while working on licensing songs for television. Looking for artists to hook up with and possibly tour with.”
The future sure does like bright for Kyle and we will certainly be looking forward to that new album. To keep up with him and his new releases, check out the links below.
