It Girl Tess Annique is no stranger to the fashion industry. With so many trying to achieve success in this
industry, Tess has both the skill set, experience, and determination that only a few unique people have.
Being scouted at the age of fifteen, she began her career at Elite Model Management and landed her first
gig with one of the biggest beauty and lifestyle brands, Cosmopolitan. At the age of seventeen, she was
already flying in and out of Los Angeles to do photoshoots that any seventeen-year-old girl could dream
of. Ambitious and highly driven with years in the fashion industry, Tess began to pursue other endeavors
while adding “College Grad” to her already impressive record with a degree in Marketing and Fashion
Media with a minor in Entrepreneurship.
With back-to-back photoshoots and bookings, it’s very easy for anyone to feel overwhelmed, including
Tess. She confessed that she did struggle to stay sober when she first started her career, in fact she did
her first fashion week right before she got sober and said that it was a tough and entirely different
experience. From this experience, she decided to go sober and be present in her life and career. “To be
sober and be 100% present and professional it’s such a beautiful thing to experience,” Tess says, “I’m
very proud of myself to be able to show up to work on time and be of service, help out where I can, and
be the best version of myself for the designers.”
During this Mental Health Month, Tess hopes that she can spread more awareness about taking care of a
person’s mind and body. After thirteen years in the modeling and fashion industry, Tess knows how much
a person can feel the pressure from outside criticism, especially to younger girls. “When you are young
you’re always trying to be something and prove something to other people,” she says. “Most people don’t know who they are at a young age and are still looking for their voice. My advice is to live life as
authentically as you can in the present moment, and everything else will fall in line.”
Tess continues to thrive and her program, Wellness with Tess, continues to grow. Through this program,
Tess can help coach and empower girls by approaching and tackling topics within mental health and
overall wellness: ultimately offering a hand to others who share similar experiences. Additionally, she is
also a certified health and wellness coach from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition and certified in
Plant-Based Studies from Cornell. She hopes that with the skillset and tools she has under her belt she
will be able to help girls become the best possible version of themselves and to have a strong voice in the
industry.
With nothing standing in her way, It Girl Tess Annique continues to make strides in the fashion industry. “I
love working in fashion, and I’ll work in it for as long as I can,” she says. With more to come from talented
